About Dakota Davis
With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. In Yadkinville, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like local teen, Dakota Davis.
Dakota is the son of William James and Virginia C. Davis. Born on January 2, 1998, Dakota was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis at birth. The doctors at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, have recommended a life-saving heart transplant. An estimated $45,000 is being raised by Yadkinville volunteers. We can use as many volunteers that want to come out to help us reach and hopefully exceed our goal. After the transplant, Dakota will have to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of his life. These medications are very expensive but are a vital part for him to lead a normal life after the transplant. An estimated $400.00 monthly for these medications BUT your donations can help off set the cost of some of these medications.
